Puke, Puke, Puke. Sick, sick, sick!

Poor Kinsey is a sick potato!!  She (I mean, WE) was up ALL NIGHT LONG throwing up, crying, being miserable.  Poor thing.  Today her job is to lay on the couch and get better.  So, that means that I have become the servant.  I will happily fetch her popsicles and crackers as long as she feels better!  I hate to see her sick.  :(

Let's hope that tomorrow is better!  Puking is nasty, even for a hardened mom like me!  :)

We have heat--we have drama!!

So, the last couple of days have been chock full o' drama, but I will spare you the gory details.  What you really NEED to know is that we have heat and Mama is happy!  :)  Thanks to my good friend, Karrie and her awesome husband, we have a kick-ass furnace for half the price that we were expecting to pay.  Whew!

So, enough of that.  This weekend is the Super Bowl!  woo-hoo.  (note the sarcasm.)  To me, the Super Bowl equals lots of food and watching commercials.  That's how it SHOULD be!  But, now that I have 2 monkeys in my house (not counting Doug), the Super Bowl equals every other day, plus more food.  I am sure that Doug will enjoy the game from the comforts of his cheetah chair, but I will be hiding from the kids--as usual!  ;)

Kinsey cracks me up!!!

I start laughing when I think about this story, so I thought that it might amuse someone else!!

So, on Monday Kinsey and I were waiting for the furnace guy to show up.  Someone knocked on the door and we assumed that's who it was, so we ran to the door.   Kinsey flung open the door to find not the furnace guy, but a guy from a local dairy trying to sign us up for home delivery.  (This is mildly irritating, since we already get milk delivered from a different dairy and he was standing next to the other dairy's cooler as he began his spiel.)

Anyway, he was giving me the details on their pricing, yadda yadda yadda, and then he asked Kinsey if she liked chocolate milk.  She was like, "Um, duh dude!"  So, he tells her to get a glass and he will give her some to try.  So, he trots off to his truck and she runs to get a cup.  He comes back, and pours her a cup full of super-chocolatey milk.

She takes a HUGE swig and swipes her mouth with her hand.  He says, "Well, miss?  Do you like it?"  Her response?  "This....chocolate...milk....makes.....me....feel...ALIVE!!!!!"  hahaha!!!  I burst into hysterical laughter and I turned to the milk man expecting him to be doubled over at my hilarious child.  But, instead, he barely laughed at the funniest thing ever!

And that, sir, is why we will NOT be using your dairy.  I want happy milk!  ;)

First video of "My Crazy Life with 2 Crazy Kids!"

I am attempting to upload a video.  I hope that it works!  This is just a little insight as to why I am
slowly going insane!  You can hear the insanity in my voice!  I am a woman on the edge!!  =)

My fingers are frozen!

So, yes, it is still cold in my house.  We are taking bids on a new furnace, but with each one we get the price is going down.  So, eventually we will be able to say YES!  If we don't have a furnace by the weekend, I'm taking the kids and hittin' the road!  Anyone need a visitor?  We don't make much of a mess!  hahaha!!!

Even though I am cold, I am all a-twitter about date night tomorrow night!!!  I finally got a babysitter (who is going to have to sit in a fuh-reezing cold house! heh heh heh!!) and Doug and I are hitting the town!!  And by hitting the town, I mean going to the local crappy movie theater and sneaking in our own gummy bears and Pepsi!  That's how we roll!!  But, we haven't seen a movie in FOREVER, so I am open to suggestions!  The babysitter is only here from 6:30-10, so I am guessing that we will grab quick dinner and see a movie.  Wheeeee!  Who knew that a cheap date could be so exciting!

One more thing--I have a confession.  Tonight I have book club.  I love book club.  I love all of the ladies who are in my book club.  I love hanging out with them, having a glass of wine and a good meal and chatting.  Once in a while, we even talk about books!  But, my confession?  I didn't read the book this time.  What are the chances that they are actually going to talk about this SPECIFIC book?  I've got lots to say about lots of other books!  Pick one!  Stephen King?  I'm on it!  Twilight?  Loved it!  Jodie Picoult?  Love her--which one do you want to talk about?  But, Bel Canto by Ann Patchett?  I have NO idea!   Sorry!

BRRRRRRR!!!

ok, so I took the weekend off--sue me!  :)

We actually had a lovely weekend, even though we didn't have any plans.  We instituted Family Movie Night on Saturday night, so hopefully that becomes a weekly thing.  This week's movie?  Horton Hears a Who!  Very cute, and the kids loved it.  We made a giant floor bed in the living room and we all snuggled in and ate popcorn on the floor!  I wonder what movie we will see this week....

Aside from all of that fun, the weather turned COLD.  I hate being cold!  As if that wasn't enough, our furnace went out on Sunday.  Since we have a separate furnace for the upstairs and downstairs, we decided to stick it out until Monday (today) before we had someone come out.  Well, that someone is here and he just informed me that we need a whole new furnace.  Great.  I wonder how much that is going to cost.  GRRR!!  I am mad!

Maybe I will have better news tomorrow.  I am off to go put on another layer!

You think you are tired? You don't know tired!

I am running on fumes.  FUMES!  My 2 year old is going to be the END of me.  He is super clingy, gets up and night, and whines if I put him down.  So, here are my choices:
1.  Use him as weights and develop the most awesome set of biceps you have ever seen.
2.  Drop him and run!!!

I tried option 2 this morning, and it didn't go well.  So, I guess I need to go buy some wife-beaters to showcase the mighty pythons that I am going to be sporting!  Got your tickets to the gun show?  (Little joke there!  Get it?)

What did I learn today?

Today was the day for my "Hearts for Moms" group.  It's a group at church for moms of little ones, and it offers support/advice/breakfast/babysitting.  What more could you want???

Today's topic was "Finding Time for your Husband."  Ugh.  But, it was very well put together and I was glad that I went.  I was so motivated, I even came home and made banana bread!  Now that's a good day!

The best part of my day came after I picked up the kids.  I had promised them ice cream if they were good, so of course I had to pay up.  Ice cream for lunch?  Sounds good to me!   There is nothing cuter than 2 little kids with ice cream on their faces.  They both managed to smear ice cream all over their faces and all over my car and all over my kitchen and all over their clothes.  I can only hope that they actually got some in their mouths!!

The other thing that i wanted to comment on is my son's new found obsession with Wall-E.  He asks for that movie a dozen times a day.  If he is having a fit, nothing can calm him like Wall-E.  So, needless to say, I coughed up the money to buy the darn thing, because Wall-E is my new best friend!!  And now that Ben is talking so much, it is adorable.  He actually said, "Hey Ma?  Ma?  MA?  MA!  MA!!  Wall-E can fly!  No....Wall-E fly in spaceship.  Buzz Lightyear can fly!  Ben go in spaceship?  No....  MA??  MA??  MA!!!"

Precious!

48 and 48!

So, we are back from the doctor, and my girl is 48 inches tall and 48 pounds!  holy moly!  I knew that she was tall, but not THAT tall!!  No wonder her pants are too short!  =)

But, she is healthy and happy and smart and beautiful and crazy and wonderful!  (This was all before the shots!  After the shots?  Not so much!  haha!!!)

Here is a picture of her on her birthday last week.  Those boys are twins and they are her best buds from across the street.  They are 3 months OLDER than her!  (Warning--if you send your boys to my house, they will become princesses and will be photographed!!!)

How tall is my girl?

So, today is Kinsey's 5 year checkup.  We are leaving in an hour, but I was just wondering how tall she is going to be "officially".  Since I am tall, and Doug is freakishly tall, she is going to be off of the charts for sure!

As I was wondering about this, I remembered yet another picture that a friend of mine decided to torment me with on Facebook.  I dare you to guess which child is me....

Real quick...

I am determined to write SOMETHING every day, and I almost forgot today!  It was SO nice outside--almost 70 degrees!  In January!  Sheesh!  The kids and I spend the majority of the day outside and Kinsey went to bed early.  My definition of a perfect day!

One funny thing that Kinsey said...
we went to the park with her twin friends, Makenzie and Dakota.  As we were pulling into the park, Kinsey said, "Mommy, is Makenzie here yet?"  I said yes, and she said, "Good.  I am so excited to see her.  You know, that is a friendship that I am never going to let go!"

What?  She's FIVE!!!  Who says that?  She's a smarty, that's for sure!

PS--should I add a quote from Ben?  "Ma?  Ma?  Ma???  MA!!  MA!!!!!  I want eat!  I want chips!  I want cake!  Mo' cake pease!  Mo' CAKE!!!!"

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER!

I am so happy that I live in Colorado right now!  It is so nice outside, and all of my poor friends in the midwest are freezing their you-know-whats off!!   Since today is a holiday (according to Kinsey, it is Martha Luther King Day!  haha!!) we have been playing and hanging out--no school.  We had fun playing and eating popsicles in the backyard with no coats!!  Love it!

I was about to break out my bikini and baby oil, but I realized that I am almost 35 years old.  sigh.  No more laying out for me.  These days i get my sun in the park.  I am usually sporting some HOT tan lines by about mid-April.  :)

So, we are embarking on a new week.  That means 2 days of getting up early to work out, and 3 days to recuperate.  One of these days, I will either get used to getting up early, or I will just knock it off.  But, for now, it would be wise to tread lightly around me on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Doug and I finally came to a decision this weekend--we are officially going to Hawaii in April!  woo-hoo!!  We have had the airplane tix purchased for a long time, but due to some crap at his work, we were on the fence.  But, we decided to go for it.  So, for the next 3 months, I get to dwell on this trip.  Where are we going to stay?  I have no idea.  What are we going to do?  I have no idea.  Are we going to visit multiple islands?  I have no idea.  As you can see, this is well thought out!

My final thought....
My birthday is right around the corner (24 days to be exact!).  I am thinking about throwing myself a party.  Is that totally lame, or totally genius?  My thought is that I would like to have a party, but to depend on Doug to do it is just setting myself up for disappointment.  So, I may invite a fwe of my closest girlies for some margaritas and hot tubs in honor of yours truly!   Stay tuned!!!

Oh, I have been messing around with some pictures in Snapfish, and I think that this one is super cute.  Here are my two monkeys:

Why??? WHY!!!!

I am not sure why, but some of my "friends" decided to scan and post some pics of us from junior high--aka the time in my life that I have deleted from my memory.  I have to laugh, or else I will cry.  To be perfectly honest, I thought that my glasses were cool!!   (At least that's what my mom said!!)  And the mullet?  What is that?  If nothing else, I think that I have finally figured out why I didn't have boyfriends in junior high!  (or high school for that matter!  It took me a while to kick in!!!)

So, if you don't mind, could you compare the picture below to the picture above?  I'd like to think that I have improved, but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me!!!

I said I would write every day, so here it is!

I didn't have the best day today, but we did get to go to Boulder.  It was a beautiful day, and the kids were adorable playing on the rocks and stuff at Pearl Street Mall.  They are so funny and Ben is turning into a little echo.  Everything that Kinsey says or does, he repeats.  I am sure that it will get old for her eventually, but she was cracking up at him today!  Adorable!

So, what did I do???

I went to the class.  Of course I did!!  I have become a glutton for punishment and I will not rest until I have rock-hard abs!  GRRRRR!!

But, once class started, I realized that perhaps, this was not the class for me.  I am used to taking a hard-core boot camp class, so I am not really familiar with the other classes that the rec enter has to offer.  This one--not so hard-core!  But, while I was trying to eek out a good workout, I compiled this short list....

How can I tell that i am in the wrong fitness class???

1.  You are the youngest person in the class.
2.  The "mature" ladies in the back are discussing online dating, and say "I don't really get the whole internet thing".
3.  The instructor grunts and moans and groans throughout the workout.
4.  At the end, you REALLY don't mean to look, but you can't help but notice that the instructor has wet herself.

So, in summary--Butts and Guts?  Pass.

Should I stay or should I go??

So, I am having a wonderful day.  I shipped Kinsey off to school and headed to the mall with Ben for some "returning".  (I will never understand how I came home with more things than I left with.  I was only returning!!!)  Currently, Ben is taking a nap and Kinsey is in the backyard playing with the twins from across the street.  It is BEAUTIFUL outside--which is more than I can say for my friends in the artic circle, otherwise known as Illinois!

So, here is the dilemma--do I go work out in 2 hours?  Doug will be home to watch the little people, and there is a class called "Butts and Guts".  Does that sound appealing??  Not especially.  But, it it means that I get an hour of "me" time, on top of the good day that I am already having, my head might explode!!!

Stay tuned...I know that you are dying to hear my decision!

Date night--aaaaaah!

So, this was a pretty long day.  But, the fact that Doug and Kinsey have a date tonight makes it all better!  They are at a basketball game, and I am here chillin' with little Ben.  He is already acting tired, so I am seeing some hot tea, The Office, and a super early bedtime for me!  Sweet!

My first post!!

Ok, I thought that I would give this a whirl, since I read plenty o' blogs these days....

So, here we are.:  Living in Colorado with 2 kids, a house, a husband, and very little sanity.  (Right now, my kids are eating corn dogs in the living room and I don't care!)  I like to play with my kids, read, exercise, talk on the phone, shop at Gymboree and watch trashy reality tv.  You know, a typical mom!  But, that's just it, I never thought that the words, "Typical mom" would apply to me.  What happened to my life?  7 years ago I was living in the Chicago 'burbs, working in an office, and living alone.  I never thought that I would end up here.

But, guess what?  I am veeeery happy.  Huh.  I guess life plans aren't always supposed to work out.  I am happy with the wrenches that have been thrown my way.  Whew!  I guess I am a lucky girl!

So, as soon as I get up from my lovely computer, I am going to change a poopy diaper, put Ben down for a nap and try to bribe Kinsey into taking a nap.  Right now, I am willing to give her cash and immunity from time outs.  A pretty good trade, wouldn't you agree??

Today is a challenge, hence the reason for the first entry.  I am flippin' tired!!  (Get used to that theme!)  I had Bunco last night with the ladies of the neighborhood--totally fun, and I won $50!  Nice!  But, I didn't get to bed until late, and I got up at 5:30 to work out.  Therefore, I am crabby today, so watch it!!!!!
